Co-created the Interledger Protocol with Evan Schwartz (2015) — the open, currency-agnostic payment-routing protocol behind the Interledger Foundation's Open Payments and Web Monetization push — and chairs the ILF board today. As founder/CEO of Coil he ran the first at-scale proof of ILP (~78 billion micropayments) and co-authored the Web Monetization standard; earlier he was Ripple's CTO building cross-border payment protocols, and his 2011 'What is Bitcoin?' video introduced millions to digital money. Currently building Dassie, an ILP node implementation (repo active June 2025).
