Marie Fare is an economist at Université Lumière Lyon 2 and a researcher at the Triangle laboratory in Lyon. She works on monetary plurality, which means the local and complementary currencies that circulate alongside national money. Her 2016 book Repenser la monnaie sets out how a local currency can change the place that issues it. With Jérôme Blanc she runs the national surveys of French local currencies, and their 2025 paper in Regional Studies reports what the second survey found.
