Christine Desan is the Leo Gottlieb Professor of Law at Harvard and the founder of JustMoney.org, where she pioneered the constitutional approach to money: currency design as an act of public governance rather than a neutral market fact. Her book Making Money: Coin, Currency, and the Coming of Capitalism traces how England's turn to bank-issued money re-engineered capitalism itself. Through the Money as a Democratic Medium conferences she has built a scholarly field that treats monetary design as a democratic choice.
