Le Lumsou

Local Citizen Currency·active·Belgium

The Lumsou is the citizen currency of the Namur basin in Belgium. One lumsou equals one euro. Citizens from local transition groups started it after a 2015 initiative to keep spending inside the region. Paper notes circulate among residents and businesses across thirteen communes. A volunteer association runs it and keeps a public map of the businesses that accept it.

M69 Verdict

Namur's citizen currency: a decade-old, volunteer-run, euro-backed paper MLC with fresh 2026 activity. Sibling of Carol'Or, La Brawette and SolAToi in the Wallonia set; closes another gap in the Financite census.
