Pieter Wuille is a Bitcoin protocol engineer at Chaincode Labs. He wrote libsecp256k1, the library Bitcoin uses to check every signature, and he co-authored the Schnorr signature and Taproot upgrades that went live in 2021. He also wrote BIP32, the spec that lets one seed phrase back up a whole wallet. He has worked on Bitcoin's code since 2011 and still publishes cryptography research.
