Hardware engineer building open-source Bitcoin miners from a garage workshop in Nairobi. He reverse-engineered a commercial mining chip and published the Bitshoka Nini design so anyone can build and repair their own miner. He guides development of the Jua Kali miners at Gridless, which mines Bitcoin with surplus renewable power in rural East Africa, and he spent over ten years working on rural electrification.
