Kako Nubukpo is a Togolese economist who argues that West Africa should leave the CFA franc. He edited Sortir l'Afrique de la servitude monétaire in 2016 and led Demain, la souveraineté monétaire ? in 2021, both on how a currency pegged to the euro limits what governments in the region can do. He served as Togo's minister for public policy evaluation and later as a UEMOA commissioner. He now directs the Sub-Saharan Africa observatory at the Fondation Jean-Jaurès and keeps pressing heads of state on the eco, the replacement currency they promised.
