CTO of Taler Systems, where he co-leads GNU Taler with Christian Grothoff: free-software digital cash that gives buyers unlinkable, private payments while keeping merchant income transparent to tax authorities, with no blockchain involved. His doctoral thesis at Inria proved the system's security design, and he co-authored RFC 8905, the payto URI scheme that gives payment targets a common address format. Before Taler he built on GNUnet, the privacy-preserving peer-to-peer framework.
