SolAToi
SolAToi is the citizen currency of Ath and the Pays Vert region, in Belgium, in circulation since March 2018. One solatoi equals one euro. A volunteer association issues it as paper notes, and added an electronic version, the Sol@ire, in 2024. Local merchants and producers around Ath accept it.
Territorial euro-parity citizen currency for Ath: debt-free full-reserve issuance, a 2024 digital rail and an actively maintained network, with no monetary sovereignty beyond the euro.

Detailed Rating Breakdown
Issuance Model3x4.0
Full-reserve voucher: solatois are issued only against euros at exchange counters or via the Sol@ire account, debt-free, contracting on reconversion. Issuance restricted to the ASBL, tied to local demand rather than any index.
Spending Power Stability2x3.0
Pegged 1:1 to the euro, so purchasing power tracks the euro exactly. No independent stability mechanism.
Fiat Independence & Interoperability2x1.0
Euro unit of account and euro reserves; the digital Sol@ire adds bank-transfer dependence. Territorial euro-parity class ruling (run 126) applied.
Traction2x3.0
In circulation since 24 March 2018, roughly fifty accepting merchants around Ath, digital Sol@ire launched May 2024 (Notele coverage), site actively maintained (sitemap lastmod 2026-08-02, summer 2026 campaigns, newly listed merchant partners). Small scale and euro-quoted pricing cap the score.
Sovereignty2.0
Volunteer ASBL in one Belgian jurisdiction, backed by the Maison Culturelle d'Ath; the association controls issuance and the digital platform. Paper notes remain bearer instruments.
Governance3.0
ASBL governance with Financité network affiliation and municipal recognition (Ville d'Ath lists it); formal but small, volunteer-run, no separation of monetary rules from operations.
Resilience3.0
Eight years live including the Covid period, and it made the paper-to-digital transition in 2024. Volunteer capacity and thin funding are the structural risks.
Inclusivity3.0
Open at 1:1 with low entry cost; the paper rail needs no identity, the Sol@ire account needs a simple registration. Territorial by design.
