Citizen Wallet
Citizen Wallet is open source payment software for community currencies. A community issues its own token, and members hold it in a phone app, a browser wallet or an NFC card. Shops take payments through a point of sale app. It runs on several EVM networks, including Polygon, Gnosis, Celo and Base, and the private key stays with the user. Brussels uses it for the Zinne, the city local currency, and for the Brussels Pay merchant network.
Open source, self-custodial payment rails for community currencies, already carrying a real city currency (the Brussels Zinne) and a merchant network. Monetary design is inherited from each community and is euro-pegged in practice, which caps the stability and fiat-independence legs. Strong on inclusivity and user custody, weak on published governance, funding durability and track record. Comparable to Cyclos (2.9) on function, ahead of it on custody and licence, behind Komunitin (3.5) whose mutual credit design scores higher on issuance.
